Overview:Charles Hazlewood continues his exploration of Mozart's music with an in-depth 'deconstruction' of the work which opens the BBC Two series. It was one of a set of concerti which the composer wrote whilst he was in Vienna in 1782 at the height of his powers, and contains some strikingly innovative writing for the fortepiano. It is Mozart wanting to impress his father, who came to hear this particular concerto, and whom Mozart had not seen for over two years.
